Frequently Asked Questions

How many hours can I book?
You can book me in 1 hour increments. A minimum of 3 hours and a maximum of 8 hours.
How many guests can you paint in my time slot?
It takes between 8 minutes to paint each individual guest. A portrait of a couple will take around 15 minutes. A family of 4 will take around 25 minutes etc. I suggest a minimum amount of 6-7 guests per hour are painted.
What do I need to supply?
All I need is a chair and table, I will supply the rest!
How much space do you need?
It depends how much of an impact you'd like the service to have on your guests. The larger the table the more display stands I can use. Whilst also offering beautiful favours to guests, live illustrating is a fab way to entertain them too!
How long do I have to stand for whilst my portrait gets painted?
No need to stand and wait around! I take a photo of guests and use the photo as reference. Guests can continue to enjoy the day, pop back over at any time to see the creations and take their portrait away at the end of the day.
How will guests take their paintings home if the paint hasn't dried?
No need to worry, I use high quality watercolour paint on watercolour card that dries in less than a few minutes.
How can you paint for so long?
It's definitely practice but I will also require a break or two depending on the length of the booking slot to eat and get some fresh air.
Who gets painted first?
This is totally up to you, but here are a few options: 1. First come first serve, 2. Specific list of guests given to me (either a member of the wedding party will have to bring each guest over to me as I haven't met any of your lovely members of family and friends, or you let those specific people know beforehand to come over to me to get their portraits painted), 3. Every guest gets painted (dependant on the amount of guests attending your wedding and the time slot you've booked)
Can guests talk to you as you paint?
Absolutely! My favourite part about this process is interacting with you and your guests!
When will you be painting the Bride & Groom?
This portrait will be completed and dispatched within 2 weeks after the wedding day. This allows me to spend a bit more time on it as I know this is the most important portrait! It also means I can paint as many of the guests on the Big Day as possible.
Will portraits be framed?
No, unfortunately I do not offer any framing.
Not everyone at my event got painted...
If this is something that you'd like but isn't possible for me to do on your wedding day due to having a large amount of guests then additional portraits can be purchased post wedding. I can take pictures of all guests on the day, and any that need to be painted in my studio office post wedding will cost an additional £5 per person. An agreed number of guests will be discussed post wedding and a further invoice will be paid before the painting process begins. The option to have additional painted portraits will need to be agreed on before your wedding day.
Will we need to supply your food and drink?
I will never say no to a glass of bubbly to toast with you on your big day, but of course it's not necessary and I will always bring my own water to stay hydrated. Regarding food; being a part of your catering plan is always appreciated SO much and I am extremely grateful when clients include me, however as a budget friendly illustrator, I know just how expensive each person is to feed and don't expect clients to provide a meal for me and am happy to bring my own food to keep your costs down.
Are there any hidden costs?
No hidden costs! I like to be fully transparent with my clients.
There may be an additional Travel Fee depending on your location, which will be discussed at the very beginning of your enquiry process. There may be an Accommodation Fee, again depending on the distance I need to travel and service hours. This will be discussed at the very beginning of the enquiry process also and to be paid alongside the £99 deposit (this payment will be deducted from the total hours of your booking slot).
Where do you travel to?
I travel to anywhere in the UK and any requests outside the UK are on a case-by-case basis.
When do I need to pay you by?
Select an amount of hours that suits you, a £99 deposit will be deducted from that session amount. The £99 deposit will need to be paid upfront and the remaining session amount will need to be paid no later than 4 weeks before the Big Day. Travel Fees are to be paid alongside the session amount and if you have an Accommodation Fee to pay that will need to be paid upfront alongside the £99 deposit.
Why do I need to make payments upfront?
A non-refundable £99 deposit is made upfront to secure your date and an Accommodation Fee is made upfront to secure a hotel booking before there is potential for rooms to run out and to find the best possible prices.
